HARRISBURG – The governor’s annual budget address yesterday contained a few proposals that are doable and others that will not work for the 106th District, according to Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin).
Mehaffie said he heard from many constituents as details of Gov. Tom Wolf’s $37 billion spending plan became public.
“It is important to remember the presentation by the governor on Wednesday was merely a starting point and his wish list as we sit down to hammer out the 2021-22 budget,” Mehaffie said. “There were aspects that I support, but there were many others that are not feasible. This really just launches the hard work of negotiations.”
Mehaffie said he is especially concerned with budgetary spending that affects COVID-19 vaccine distribution and the recovery of small businesses shuttered by the government for weeks at a time.
“More needs to be done to get Pennsylvanians vaccinated. That is the conversation we need to be having every day,” Mehaffie said. “The Commonwealth is lagging behind other states in the rate of vaccinations, which is entirely unacceptable.”
