Grant Funding to Support Recreation, Open Space in 106th District, Mehaffie Says

January 13, 2026

HARRISBURG – Nearly $800,000 in grant money coming to the 106th District will help municipalities improve their parks, according to Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin).

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) administers the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) grant program that announced funding today for more than 295 projects across the state. Local awardees are:

• $241,500 for East Hanover Township to renovate athletic courts, install fencing and create pedestrian walkways at the community park.
• $156,000 for Lower Swatara Township to install play equipment, improve handicapped accessibility, and add walkways and parking at Georgetown Park.
• $394,000 for Middletown Borough to install fitness stations, improve stormwater management and build pedestrian walkways at Middletown Community Park.

“These parks really are beloved gems in our communities,” Mehaffie said. “They are being used every day and give people an opportunity to be active while enjoying the outdoors.”

The 2025-26 budget adopted by the Legislature increased funding for DCNR by $13 million to address needs related to conservation, outdoor recreation, public lands and other projects.
